  • Redness can show up in many different ways — from intermittent flushing and persistent facial redness to those frustrating bumps and pustules that make your skin feel irritated and reactive. Rosacea is one of the most common causes of facial redness, typically appearing in adults from their thirties onward. It presents differently for everyone: some people experience occasional flushing or visible capillaries, while others develop itchy, inflamed bumps, pustules, or areas of swelling. There is also an ocular form of rosacea, which can cause dryness, irritation, and scaling around the eyelids.

Although the exact cause of rosacea isn’t fully understood, several factors are believed to contribute, including genetics, vascular changes, inflammation, environmental triggers, and the presence of the demodex mite. Many everyday factors can worsen symptoms — such as hot drinks, spicy foods, alcohol, sun exposure, temperature changes, emotional stress, hot showers, certain medications, and unsuitable skincare products.

Because avoiding triggers can be difficult, many people benefit from a personalised treatment plan. At Skin Transformations, we support clients with targeted skincare, barrier‑strengthening strategies, and advanced light‑based therapies to calm inflammation, reduce redness, and improve overall skin comfort. Our goal is to help you understand your triggers, manage flare‑ups, and restore confidence in your skin.

  • Redness, rosacea and visible capillaries can affect a wide range of people, and each concern has its own set of common patterns and triggers. Understanding who is more prone to these conditions helps us tailor treatment and prevention strategies with precision.

    Redness

    • Sensitive or reactive skin: Individuals with easily irritated skin often experience ongoing redness triggered by products, weather or environmental stressors.

    • Inflamed or acne‑prone skin: Redness is a natural response to inflammation and is common in those experiencing breakouts or compromised skin barriers.

    • Environmental exposure: Sun, wind, heat, cold and pollution can all contribute to persistent redness over time.

    Rosacea

    • Fair‑skinned individuals: Rosacea is more common in lighter skin tones, particularly those with Celtic, Scandinavian or Northern European heritage.

    • Adults 30+: Rosacea typically appears in adulthood and often becomes more noticeable with age.

    • Women: Women are diagnosed more frequently, although men often experience more severe symptoms.

    • Family history: Genetics play a strong role — if rosacea runs in the family, the likelihood increases.

    • Reactive skin types: Triggers such as spicy foods, alcohol, stress, heat, cold and certain skincare products can worsen symptoms.

    Visible Capillaries

    • Fair or thin skin: Capillaries are more easily seen in delicate or translucent skin types.

    • Ageing skin: As collagen and elasticity decrease, capillaries become more visible.

    • Chronic environmental stress: Sun exposure, wind, heat, cold and repetitive facial flushing can all contribute to broken capillaries.

    • Rosacea sufferers: Prominent capillaries are a common feature of rosacea, especially across the cheeks and nose.

  • Fair Skin or Sun Exposure: UV damage can weaken blood vessels and increase the likelihood of persistent redness, rosacea flare‑ups and visible capillaries.

Lifestyle Triggers: Factors such as diet, stress, alcohol, heat and certain skincare products can intensify redness and rosacea in those who are prone to it.

Underlying Health Conditions: Vascular concerns, high blood pressure and other systemic conditions may contribute to facial redness and visible capillaries.

  • At Skin Transformations, we use advanced, evidence‑based treatments to reduce redness, calm rosacea and target visible capillaries. Each treatment plan is customised to your skin type, triggers and long‑term goals to ensure the best possible results.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) IPL is one of the most effective treatments for rosacea, spider veins and vascular redness. The light energy is absorbed by the targeted blood vessels, gently heating them until they collapse and fade. This reduces flushing, broken capillaries and overall redness, restoring a more even skin tone.

Fusion Plasma (Warm & Cold Plasma) Warm plasma helps strengthen the skin, reduce inflammation and support barrier repair, while cold plasma targets bacteria, calms redness and soothes reactive skin. Together, they help stabilise rosacea‑prone skin and reduce flare‑ups.

LED Light Therapy LED uses specific wavelengths of light to reduce inflammation, accelerate healing and strengthen the skin’s natural defence mechanisms. It is ideal for calming rosacea, reducing redness and supporting overall skin health.

Cosmeceutical Homecare Professional‑grade skincare plays a crucial role in managing redness and rosacea. We prescribe targeted products that support the skin barrier, reduce inflammation and minimise triggers — helping maintain results between treatments.

At Skin Transformations, we combine these therapies with personalised advice around lifestyle, triggers and long‑term skin support. Our goal is to calm the skin, reduce flare‑ups and restore confidence with a treatment plan tailored specifically to you.
